Connie Chang

While living in New York City and working in the hectic world of high fashion as an assistant manager at Liz Claiborne, Connie, thankfully, found YOGA. It changed her life. Since that time, nine years ago she has trained intensively and as found the daily commitment to this ancient practice has awakened her body and spirit. Now she hopes to share what she has learned with others.

Connie’s passion for yoga brought her to India where she studied at the famous Sivananda International Yoga Vedanta Forest Academy located in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains. The program was established forty years ago by the world renowned Swami Vishnu-Devananda who is recognized as the leading authority in the Hatha and Raja Yoga Practices. It was through this program that Connie received her certification by the Yoga Alliance.

In addition to her study in India, Connie received extensive training in her native Korea. She studied hatha yoga with nationally respected yoga pioneer Jung-hee Bae. Connie also practiced Dahn Yoga for two years and received instruction in ‘Dahnjeon’ breathing. She holds yoga teacher certification through the Korean Yoga Association. Recently, Connie translated from English into Korean, Eye Care through Yoga by Dr. M.S. Agarwal which was published in Korea last year.

Connie’s unique approach combines classic hatha warm-ups and asanas with Korean traditional chi exercises. Her approach, based on a strong practical and scientific foundation will help the flow of prana while helping to release the blockage of energy by toxins built up in the body.

Connie’s classes include yoga’s physical conditioning with proper breathing, relaxation and meditation. Connie brings her broad knowledge of yoga’s asanas, history and philosophy to each class, along with a highly attentive and warm teaching style.
